Cable engineering tools for Indian procurement.
Every tool below is anchored to a current Indian Standard. Sizing follows IS 3961:2024 ampacity and IS 8130:2013 conductor resistance — not rules of thumb. Cost comparison is list-price across the seven BIS-licensed manufacturers we track.
IS 3961:2024 · IS 8130:2013 · IS 694:2010 · NBC 2016 · ASTM B258 · IEC 60228
Standard-anchored, no registration, no email gate.
Cable Size Calculator →
Six application modes — home, motor, panel feeder, pump, solar DC, IEC industrial. Voltage drop and ampacity sized to the standard, not a rule of thumb.
For: Electrical engineers, MEP consultants, contractors
Cross-brand cost comparisonBoQ Builder →
Build a cable schedule by size and length, then compare total list cost across all seven BIS-licensed brands. Shows lowest total + delta to market.
For: Procurement teams, EPC contractors, project managers
ASTM B258 · IEC 60228AWG ↔ sqmm Converter →
Convert American Wire Gauge to nearest Indian Standard sqmm size. Useful for imported equipment data sheets that specify in AWG.
For: Engineers working with imported equipment, OEM panel builders
IS 8130:2013 · IEC 60228Copper Weight Reference →
Conductor copper weight per metre, per 100 m, per 1000 m — Class 2 and Class 5. Anchors implied-margin checks against the LME copper tick.
For: Procurement, traders, audit teams
How these tools differ from spreadsheet templates.
Most cable-sizing spreadsheets in Indian procurement circulation are derived from outdated tables — pre-2024 IS 3961, pre-2013 IS 8130, or copy-pasted from manufacturer catalogues without the standard's derating clauses. Our calculators cite the standard's current edition and apply the documented temperature, ambient and grouping factors.
Output is indicative — the standard requires a qualified electrical engineer to sign off the final BoQ. Cite the IS reference printed on each tool's output card when you do.
