How we source cable prices
Every price on this site comes from a published manufacturer price list. We never invent prices. Every figure has an effective date, a source label, and where available, a link to the originating document.
Source-cited every figure
Each price carries the manufacturer's source list label (e.g. 'Polycab Q2 2026 list rev. 04/26') and effective date.
BIS licence cross-checked
Every brand's CM/L number verified live against bis.gov.in. Separate licences required per IS standard.
LME copper tracked
Indian cable list prices follow LME copper. We display the latest spot rate as a context anchor on every page.
Source documents
Indian cable manufacturers publish price lists periodically — typically every 1–3 months, tied to LME copper movements. We capture these as price list entities in our database, each with:
- Brand — which manufacturer published it.
- Effective date — the "with effect from" date on the price list.
- Source label — the document name (e.g. "Polycab Price List Apr 2026").
- Source URL — link to the document where publicly available.
- Line items — one row per SKU + pack type, with price per metre and price per coil.
How we display the current price
For each product, the "current price" is resolved by walking that product's brand's published price lists, picking the one with the latest effective date that applies. If a brand publishes a category-specific list (e.g. only the FR range), it overrides an older all-products list for that category only.
BIS licence verification
For every brand we list a BIS CM/L licence number where applicable. These are independently verifiable at bis.gov.in. A BIS licence under IS 694:2010 does not automatically extend to IS 17048:2018 (HFFR) or IS 1554 (armoured) — separate licences are required, and we list each.
LME copper
Indian cable list prices are dominated by the cost of electrolytic copper. We display the most recent LME copper price as a market reference at the top of every price page. When copper moves more than ~3%, expect new price lists.
List price vs effective transaction price
Note on list vs effective transaction price. List prices vary 50–70% across BIS-certified manufacturers; effective transaction prices vary <10%, governed by copper economics. Typical industry discount range: 25–55% from list. List price is the publicly verifiable benchmark — transaction price requires a verified delivered quote. The Cu-floor column is the copper-cost-anchored economic floor and is identical for every brand at a given size.
On every comparison surface (homepage matrix, category page, master-SKU comparison, brand price-list market context) we render two columns the buyer can use to read past list-price loading: the Cu floor (copper-only material cost — identical across BIS-certified brands at a given size) and the implied list margin over that floor (a per-cell "+N% over floor" sub-line, plus the cross-brand margin range). A wider list spread does not mean a wider net spread.
Authenticity verification
Four independent checks any buyer can run before procurement of any BIS-certified brand. Apply uniformly across every cable purchase — the same checks that protect a buyer of one brand protect a buyer of any other.
- CM/L printed every metre. Authentic BIS-licensed cable carries the manufacturer's CM/L licence number printed at regular intervals on the outer sheath. Absence of the licence number is disqualifying — no exceptions.
- ISI marking. Required on every coil. Coils without the ISI mark cannot be certified post-installation and are not insurable under NBC 2016.
- BIS portal verification. Cross-check the printed CM/L number against the active register at bis.gov.in. The licence must be current and must cover the IS standard relevant to your application — IS 694:2010 for FR / FR-LSH; IS 17048:2018 for HFFR; separate licences.
- Authorised-dealer purchase. Buy only from the brand's authorised distributor. The dealer-locator pages on this site link directly to each manufacturer's own locator — counterfeit operators do not appear on those.
Frequently asked questions
Where do the prices on CablePriceIndia come from?
Every price is sourced from the manufacturer's published price list — typically a PDF circular issued each quarter or when LME copper moves more than 3%. We capture the source label, effective date, and where available a link to the original document on each /price page. We do not invent or estimate prices.
How can I verify a brand's BIS CM/L licence number?
Each brand page lists the manufacturer's BIS Conformity Marking Licence (CM/L) number. Cross-check it independently at bis.gov.in by searching the company name or the CM/L number directly. A licence under IS 694:2010 does not extend to IS 17048:2018 (HFFR) or IS 1554 (armoured) — separate licences are required.
How fresh are the prices? When were they last verified?
Each price carries a w.e.f. (with effect from) date pulled from the manufacturer's source circular. We refresh our reference matrix the same day a brand publishes a new list, then re-verify every figure weekly. The latest effective date appears on every brand and product page.
Why doesn't CablePriceIndia sell cable directly?
We're a price-discovery service, not a dealer or distributor. Selling cable would compromise our independence — readers couldn't trust the comparison if we held a stocking position in any one brand. Enquiries route to the manufacturer's authorised channel; we earn nothing from the sale.
Do dealers actually charge the list price shown here?
Rarely. List prices are the manufacturer's reference number — what the dealer pays before discount. Bulk transaction prices typically run 9–14% below list for projects above 5 km of cable, depending on payment terms, location, and dealer discount tier. For a per-line cross-brand list-price reference customised to your BoQ, use the BoQ Builder at /tools/boq-builder — or download the full price list PDF at /download. Verify final transaction pricing with the manufacturer or an authorised dealer before raising a PO.
I think a price on this site is wrong. How do I report it?
Email contact@cablepriceindia.com with the URL, the price you believe is incorrect, and ideally a copy or link to the manufacturer's current source list. We re-verify against the source document and update within 24 hours when a discrepancy is confirmed. Corrections are reflected in the page's effective-date stamp.
Updated weekly by the cablepriceindia.com price-research desk. Last verified: 1 July 2026. We are an independent price-discovery service. Verify any BIS Conformity Marking Licence (CM/L) at bis.gov.in.
