What to check before buying
✓
ISI mark on every coil — look for the BIS ISI mark printed on the cable sheath. No ISI mark means no BIS certification.
✓
Voltage rating — should say 650/1100V (IS 694:2010). Cable marked 300/500V is IEC grade, not IS 694:2010.
✓
Conductor purity — ask for 99.97% IACS electrolytic copper. Lower purity = higher resistance = more heat.
✓
BIS licence verifiable — any ISI-marked cable has a CM/L number. You can verify it at bis.gov.in.
