What is Solar-DC cable?
Solar PV DC cables are manufactured to IEC 62930 (internationally) or IS 16527 (Indian equivalent). They use double insulation for safety, UV-stabilised XLPE insulation for outdoor exposure, and fine-stranded Class 5 copper conductors. They are rated for DC voltages up to 1500V. Using IS 694:2010 cable in solar DC applications is incorrect — it is not UV resistant and not DC rated.
